Heat Day

Tuesday was third grade's Heat Day. We use this day to do some fun heat activities to help the students have a better understanding of the concepts. Mrs. Green worked along with Mrs. LaRocca on the Solar Tube station.
The Solar Tube showed how black absorbs light, heat moves by radiation from the sun, and how convection (heat moving through gases) caused the tube to lift. Some students made the connect about how this is similar to a hot air balloon.

Students, here are 2 questions for you: What was your favorite station from Heat Day, and why? What's something that you learned or you thought was interesting?

Try to respond to this question over Fall Break. I hope everyone has a great week off!

Challenge Question

Students,

Here is the challenge question we talked about in class today. It is worth 10 coins! Do not put your answer on here. Write it on a piece of paper and turn it in tomorrow.

What is the name for a number that can only be found by multiplying it by 1? What are some other examples? 19 and 11 are examples. 19 x 1 = 19 and 1 x 19 = 19

If you think you know, write it down! You can use the Internet or other resources to help you.

Also, be sure to check out Jordan K.'s post below!
